Alumni

Roots Become Canopy

Children eventually grow beyond our classrooms. But we don't believe they have to grow beyond our community.

The Canopy Alumni Leadership Program creates a pathway for former Treehouse Montessori School and Canopy students to return to the place that helped nurture their earliest years,  this time with an opportunity to give back.

Alumni are invited to reconnect with teachers, mentor younger children, care for our shared spaces, participate in meaningful service, and discover what it means to be an important part of something larger than themselves.

They once grew beneath the Canopy.
Now they have the opportunity to help hold it up.

Leadership Looks Different Here

At Canopy, leadership isn't about being in charge. It's about noticing. Helping. Caring. Contributing. Following through.

Leave Something Growing.

Every Alumni Leader eventually has the opportunity to contribute to something that remains after they leave.

A garden, handmade material, community service project, a book, a trail guide, a tradition, Something repaired, something planted, Something imagined entirely by them.

Leadership isn't only about what children accomplish. It's about discovering that they have something meaningful to contribute.

Through age-appropriate opportunities, Alumni Leaders may:

  • Read or work alongside younger children

  • Help care for gardens and outdoor spaces

  • Prepare or restore classroom materials

  • Participate in community service

  • Help with Canopy celebrations and traditions

  • Share skills and interests with younger students

  • Support special projects

  • Create a lasting Legacy Project

  • Simply return and be a familiar, caring presence in the community

Leadership isn't only about what children accomplish. It's about discovering that they have something meaningful to contribute.
